Polyethylene (PE) pipe offers substantial cost savings for both above and below ground installations.
For above ground installations, thermal contraction is allowed for by ‘snaking’ the pipe.
Due to its inherent features PE pipe is beneficial for trenchless tunnelling that saves on installation costs and minimises environmental disruption.
PE pipe is easy to install as it is relatively lightweight and comes in long lengths that reduce the risks of jointing, leakage, and pipe bursting.
Whilst PE pipe is robust and resistant to site damage, normal care and sensible handling practices are necessary to ensure trouble free operations.
PE pipe should be handled, stored and installed in accordance with Australian Standard AS/NZS 2033:2008 - Installation of polyethylene pipe systems. Local Authority regulations and specifications should also be adhered to.
